About the Trainer I am a Certified Professional Dog Trainer committed to helping people to create the family pet that they desire. I am a life time learner who enjoys attending a variety of seminars on progressive, positive training techniques. I believe that families should have fun with their dogs and I enjoy providing the opportunity for people to play with their pets.
I currently live on 42 acres of paradise with my husband and four sons. We share our home with 2 Mastiffs, a Bernese Mountain Dog, a Bearded Collie and an Australian Shepherd. We have a varied menagerie on the property which keeps us quite busy. |

Training Techniques I have a wide and varied toolbox of techniques that I use to help people and pets achieve their goals. I believe in positive motivational methods and in developing a healthy respectful relationship with our dogs. I enjoy problem solving and individualizing training plans. I firmly believe that pets are an important part of our lives and that we can integrate them into our family and community.

What is a Certified Pet Dog Trainer? In 1993, Ian Dunbar DVM, PhD, created an organization to promote dog friendly training techniques. The organization is the Association of Pet Dog Trainers and has over 6000 members worldwide. Dr Dunbar wanted to create better trainers through education and networking. The certification of pet dog trainers followed this. To become certified a trainer must have a minimum of 300 hours training experience. They must also submit a reference from a veterinarian, a colleague and a client. In addition to this, the trainer must pass a 250 question exam created by prominent trainers. There are over 1400 certified pet dog trainers and the number continues to grow as the public demands more professionalism. For more information check out www.apdt.com. |
